Manchester United have made it clear that they will not pursue a move for defender David Alaba, who is currently without a club after leaving Real Madrid this summer.
The experienced Austrian, 34, spent five years at the Bernabeu but is now searching for his next destination.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United have completely ruled out the possibility of bringing in Alaba, despite recent speculation suggesting otherwise.
Manager Michael Carrick is keen to strengthen the defence, notably targeting both left-back and centre-back positions. However, the age of Alaba has led the club to shift their priorities.
Concerns regarding his fitness have also been echoed within the hierarchy, particularly given Alaba’s history of injuries.
In recent seasons, he has struggled with significant injuries, missing many matches after tearing his cruciate ligaments in December 2023.
While he captained Austria at the 2026 World Cup and played all four matches, his club career has taken a considerable hit.
TalkSPORT reports that United’s reluctance stems largely from Alaba’s concerning injury record, having missed over 100 games in the last three seasons.
