Liverpool are weighing up a transfer for Roma midfielder Manu Kone, who was very close to joining Chelsea last summer.
This insight comes courtesy of esteemed journalist David Ornstein, speaking to The Athletic.
“Manu Kone from Roma was very close to a move to Chelsea before they switched their focus to Kamara,” Ornstein revealed.
“I believe Liverpool are also viewing him as one of their potential future options,” the journalist added.
Ornstein also elaborated on Liverpool’s transfer strategy during the summer window.
“Liverpool had to consider options even if they intended to sign a midfielder, especially following the departure of Curtis Jones, in case other losses occurred. Kamara was one of the alternatives,” the insider explained.
“I think there is interest in Kone from Roma, and they will have other options as well. Don't forget about Trey Nyoni, who has been really impressive,” Ornstein concluded.
