Alexis Mac Allister has high hopes for his new teammate Bradley Barcola, who he believes has the potential to be a key player in Liverpool's attack this season.
Barcola made his move to the Merseyside club from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of August, and he has already made his debut for Liverpool, coming off the bench in a match against Ipswich.
Mac Allister has been impressed by Barcola’s early performances, noting his quiet demeanor and the language barrier that hampers their off-field communication. However, he is adamant that this does not affect Barcola's on-pitch prowess.
“He’s been amazing since he arrived at the club. He’s a really quiet guy. He doesn’t speak much English, so it’s a bit tough for us to chat off the pitch. But on the field, he’s truly incredible,” Mac Allister said.
According to the midfielder, Barcola's standout traits are his speed, explosive acceleration, and footballing intelligence—all qualities that promise to enhance Liverpool's attacking play.
“His speed, acceleration, and understanding of the game will be very, very important for us. I hope if he gets the chance to play, he can showcase that. I'm confident he will be a huge asset to the team,” Mac Allister added.
Barcola entered the fray during the 64th minute of the Ipswich match, replacing Victor Munoz, with Liverpool already leading 2-0 thanks to a brace from Alexander Isak.
Looking ahead, the Frenchman is poised for more significant playing time. Liverpool's head coach Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Barcola is in good shape and ready to contribute more minutes, despite missing out on a full pre-season training with his new team.
The upcoming Champions League clash against Atletico presents Barcola with a valuable opportunity to make his mark at Anfield. Mac Allister is hopeful that his new partner can quickly adapt and help the team in their quest for European glory.
