Chelsea have pipped Liverpool to the signing of right-back Marco Palastra.
This summer, the Merseysiders were on the lookout for reinforcements on the right side of defence following Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure to Real Madrid in May 2025.
The club had high hopes for Jeremy Frimpong, who joined from Bayer Leverkusen for £30 million. However, the Dutchman failed to live up to expectations and disappointed the hierarchy after his switch.
According to The Athletic, Frimpong struggled in two different roles, prompting Liverpool's interest in signing Palastra as an alternative.
Ultimately, the deal fell through as the Reds needed to strengthen other areas of the squad and ease their wage bill.
Now, new manager Andoni Iraola faces the challenge of rekindling Frimpong's career with the club.
