Liverpool are still in a position to strengthen their right-back role despite the closure of the summer transfer window. Former Real Madrid player Dani Carvajal has emerged as a surprise option for the club.
The 34-year-old is currently a free agent after an accomplished spell in Spain.
Since the player is unattached, Liverpool can snap him up at any time, making the veteran an intriguing short-term solution for manager Andoni Iraola.
Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott hinted at the interest from the Merseyside club while speaking on TNT Sports.
“I think there are talks about Liverpool and Carvajal for the right-back position. So yes, I would mention Liverpool,” said Lescott.
This information seems plausible, as the club had previously been actively searching for a right-back. They attempted to secure Malo Gusto on loan from Chelsea, but that deal fell through.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Carvajal is available for contract signing as a free agent. Over the course of his career, he has won the Champions League six times and boasts a wealth of experience at the highest level.
