Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has admitted he does not miss European football. In his year with Flamengo, the 34-year-old has won the Brazilian championship and the Copa Libertadores.

The former midfielder of Chelsea and Arsenal, Jorginho, has stated that he has no regrets about leaving European football for Flamengo in 2025.

Born in Brazil, Jorginho spent his entire professional career in Europe, even acquiring Italian citizenship and representing Italy on the international stage. He made his name at Napoli under Maurizio Sarri and later achieved Champions League glory with Chelsea. Most recently, he played for Arsenal, where he spent about a year and a half before making his move to South America.

After nearly two decades in European football, Jorginho is relishing the opportunity to play in his homeland.

I returned because I had never played here before. I was curious to find out what Brazilian football is all about, the midfielder confessed on the Brazilian TV show The Noite.

I wanted to come back while still playing at a high level, to contribute to the team and win new trophies. I felt it was the perfect moment to return, and everything happened at the right time, he added.

When asked if he misses playing in Europe, the midfielder answered honestly:

Not at all. To be honest, I don’t miss Europe one bit.

Since joining Flamengo, Jorginho has already lifted the Brazilian Serie A title and the Copa Libertadores. Moreover, he was named in the tournament’s best XI for the 2025 season, having played just half a season in the competition.
