Jamie Carragher compared Brighton to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool and stated that the team should aim for a Champions League spot amid struggles from key competitors.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has been full of praise for Brighton's remarkable start in this season's Premier League. He drew a comparison between their style of play and the iconic Jurgen Klopp team and showed belief that the Seagulls are well-positioned to vie for a place in the Champions League.

After seven matches, Brighton sit third in the Premier League table, amassing sixteen points and trailing league leaders Manchester City by just five points, underpinned by their vibrant attacking play. Speaking on Sky Sports News, Carragher noted the aggressive and direct approach adopted by manager Roberto De Zerbi's side.

Right now, they are the main story of the season. I absolutely love the way they play,

said Carragher.

They remind me a bit of Liverpool under Klopp: genuinely aggressive, very quick and direct. If you ask me or most football fans to describe the style your team should play and what football is enjoyable to watch, I think this is it. Fast, aggressive, vertical football. Real action with a high quality of execution.

The pundit highlighted that Klopp's Liverpool are considered among the greatest teams in Premier League history and noted that Brighton are showing similar statistics in terms of goals scored and key metrics.

I’m not sure about a title challenge, but looking at them, I understand that they are where they should be. They haven’t had any blind luck — they fully deserve their position,

he added.

According to Carragher, with many of the traditional top clubs – such as Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester United, and Tottenham – displaying inconsistency, Brighton have a historic opportunity ahead of them. Given the high potential for European qualification even from the fifth position, the team should set their sights on the highest ambitions.
