Brighton manager Fabian Huerzeler has asserted his commitment to the club amid swirling rumours regarding a potential appointment at Manchester United.
The German coach finds himself named among possible candidates should Manchester United decide to part ways with Michael Carrick, who has faced increasing pressure after a dismal run of seven matches without a win, capped by a 4-1 defeat to Como.
However, Huerzeler emphasised that his attention lies solely with Brighton.
Huerzeler shows respect for Carrick
"I am fully focused on my job here. I don’t have time to think about these rumours because we are playing every three days," said the 33-year-old.
He also praised Carrick, recognising the United manager's efforts in his previous tenure.
"I have a lot of respect for Michael Carrick and what he achieved with Manchester United at the end of last season. He is a wonderful person and a great character. Every time we meet, we have a good relationship. I respect him, and I have nothing more to add," the German pointed out.
Brighton off to a flying start
Brighton has been playing exciting football, currently sitting third in the Premier League, trailing only Manchester City and reigning champions Arsenal.
Last month, Huerzeler's side pulled off a stunning comeback to beat Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup, recovering from a two-goal deficit.
However, their scoring streak was halted on Thursday, as Brighton drew 0-0 with Czech side Jablonec in the Europa League.
Despite the hot start to the campaign, Huerzeler believes there is still room for improvement within his squad.
"We still have work to do, and there is great potential within the players that can be unlocked. I want to work on this with my players and my coaching staff," he remarked.
