Erling Haaland has shared his thoughts following Manchester City's impressive 4-1 win against Crystal Palace. The striker pointed out the team's short pre-season and expressed that it will take a few more matches for the players to hit optimal fitness.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Haaland noted:
We had a short pre-season. Ryan Cherki played at the World Cup just five weeks ago. It's about getting back to the right state, and we just need to play a few more games.
The Norwegian also mentioned the impact of new manager Enzo Maresca:
We played well. We have a new coach, but many of us have been together for a long time, and a few new players have joined. We know what to do and must trust the system.
Haaland also took time to discuss Phil Foden.
The forward commented:
We need to keep playing together, understand where each of us is most effective, and how we can best work together. We have so many good players, and it’s about finding a spot for each one.
Furthermore, he added:
Phil needs to keep working hard because we know how good he is. He needs to show that every week. It’s the right step forward for all of us. Now we need to build on this success.
