Elliot Anderson has shared insights into his initial weeks at Manchester City following a convincing 4-1 triumph against Crystal Palace. The midfielder acknowledged that he is slowly acclimatising to the expectations of his new side, which are markedly different from his previous role at Nottingham Forest.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Anderson said:
I enjoyed the match against Palace. I felt more confident this time around. This was my third game, and I think I'm improving with each match. But there’s still room for growth.
Reflecting on the nerves he felt before his first matches for City, Anderson admitted:
Of course I was nervous. I always get a bit jittery when I step onto the pitch, but my first game at the Etihad was something special. Now we have two wins from two, so I’m really pleased.
The midfielder elaborated on how his new role contrasts with his time at Forest:
I’m really enjoying it here. Everything is a bit different from what I was used to. I need to play in a more structured way – that’s something I’m learning. I have to hold my position, whereas at Forest I had a bit more freedom.
Anderson also took the time to praise Ryan Cherki’s individual goal:
I was just standing back and watching. Since I joined, I see that every day – Ryan, Phil... They have incredible talent. Honestly, I’m not surprised by our victories. Their skill level is quite intimidating.
