Benfica have secured the opportunity to purchase Claudio Echeverri from Manchester City for €21 million. However, the English side has retained a buy-back clause valued at €50 million, according to reports from Ekrem Konur.
Echeverri joined Benfica on loan until the end of the 2026/27 season. The agreement between the clubs includes a buy-out option, with Portuguese sources revealing its cost to be €21 million.
This sets Benfica up nicely to make a permanent move for the Argentine attacking midfielder at a relatively low fee.
However, Manchester City have safeguarded their interests with a significant insurance policy. Should Benfica decide to activate the buy-out option, the Premier League giants can invoke their buy-back right for €50 million, effectively allowing them to re-sign Echeverri.
