Victor Djoekeres is feeling disgruntled with his current status at Arsenal, believing the club has treated him with a lack of respect. Piers Morgan reported that this summer, the Gunners were ready to offload the Swedish striker in favour of Julian Alvarez.
Since joining Arsenal in the summer of 2025 for a hefty £64 million, Djoekeres has found game time hard to come by, featuring only briefly in the victory against Chelsea (2-1) after remaining on the bench for the first couple of matches of the new season.
Piers Morgan shared his insights on the situation during the Sports Uncensored programme:
Djoekeres has hardly featured since the start of the season, and a reliable source has informed me that he has been deliberately kept on the bench.
Arsenal were considering a swap for Julian Alvarez, but ultimately that deal fell through.
I’ve been told Djoekeres is very upset about how he’s been treated and feels disrespected. It’s quite obvious, but this situation also highlights Mikel Arteta’s firmness, which many Arsenal fans are glad to see.
According to Morgan, the Gunners are not finished in their pursuit of forwards, looking to strengthen in January:
I have been informed that Arsenal are gearing up to return to the market for a new striker in January. They are set to search for attacking reinforcements in the winter transfer window.
Morgan also claims that Arsenal had genuine hopes of signing Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid during the summer:
I've been told that Arsenal truly believed Vinicius Junior would join them. I know for a fact that the club thought the deal was practically done right up until the day before he signed a new contract with Real.
