Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has praised Ross Barkley’s talents, expressing his expectations for the midfielder in attack.
The Spanish coach admitted he was impressed with the Englishman's performances during his time at Luton Town.
“Ross Barkley is a very good player with a lot of experience. I don't know why his career dipped after Chelsea. When we watched him at Luton, we thought: ‘Wow, what a player!’” Emery said in an interview with The Athletic.
Emery demands greater attacking contribution from Barkley
The Villa boss emphasised his aim to unlock Barkley’s attacking potential. According to Emery, Barkley has the ability to score goals and excel in aerial duels.
“I am very demanding of him in attack. I know he can score and play well in the air. I am pleased with him,” the coach noted.
Barkley previously played for Chelsea before spending a season at Luton Town, where he caught the eye once again with his skillset. The midfielder has now seized the opportunity to continue his career at Aston Villa.
