Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are close to selling their stakes in Chelsea to Clearlake Capital. Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano are consolidating full control over the London club.

Todd Boehly and Mark Walter, co-owners of Chelsea, are on the brink of selling their shares in the football club. This news comes from the reputable financial agency Bloomberg.

The buyer is set to be investment fund Clearlake Capital. The American investment firm, led by Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, is looking to consolidate full control over the Premier League club and become its sole dominant owner.

In recent weeks, negotiations have reached a final stage. As part of the impending deal, Boehly and Walter look set to secure a modest profit from their initial investments made four years ago.

In 2022, Boehly and Clearlake Capital co-led the BlueCo consortium during extensive negotiations to purchase Chelsea from Roman Abramovich.

The deal at that time was valued at around £2.5 billion. Under the established ownership structure, Clearlake Capital gained a controlling stake of approximately 61.5% of the shares. Minor stakes were divided among Boehly, Walter, and Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, each holding about 12.8% of the shares. Now, the era of dual leadership at the Blues appears to be drawing to a close.
