Thierry Henry has provided insight into how Liverpool can get the best out of Bradley Barcola. The 24-year-old French winger has made the move from PSG for a fee that could reach £123 million, and he is poised to debut for his new side in the upcoming match against Ipswich.
Henry believes a lot hinges on the role that manager Andoni Iraola assigns to Barcola and whether the team can consistently create one-on-one situations for him.
Speaking on the matter, Thierry Henry noted:
When it comes to Barcola, it largely depends on how you plan to play. Will you be able to engineer those one-on-one situations for him?
Moreover, if you intend to play on the counter, he is unbelievably quick. But will you be asking him to do more defending than attacking? Perhaps such a role does not suit him.
The former France international added:
The last thing I’d point out is that he needs to sharpen up his finishing. If he can do that, many teams will face serious problems with him.
Barcola has signed a five-year deal with Liverpool, with the potential total of the transfer, including bonuses, reaching £123 million, making him the second most expensive signing in the club's history after Alexander Isak.
