Teddy Sheringham believes Benjamin Sesko should start for Manchester United against Manchester City. The ex-striker argues that without the Slovenian, the team lacks a real focal point up front, and the derby lacks a clear favourite.

Teddy Sheringham believes Manchester United are in urgent need of Benjamin Sesko ahead of their derby clash with Manchester City. The former United striker is convinced the Slovenian's presence provides Michael Carrick's attack with a focal point, significantly increasing the team’s chances of scoring.

However, Sheringham does not see a clear favourite for the upcoming derby, stating that Arsenal are currently the strongest side in the Premier League.

Speaking about the much-anticipated match, Sheringham said:

This is a tough match, but I still think it could go either way. In my eyes, neither of these teams are at the top of their game right now.

If we are talking about the best teams, no matter how much it pains me to say it, Arsenal are currently the strongest team in the league, and everyone is trying to catch up with them.

Both sides have a lot of very good players, but at the moment, I wouldn’t label them as top teams. So on Sunday, anything can happen. I’m hoping for a Manchester United win, but I would probably put my money on a draw.

When discussing the choice of central striker, Sheringham highlighted Sesko, who scored nine goals in 17 matches under Carrick last season:

I really like Sesko. He’s capable of leading the line, involving his teammates in the play, and scoring goals. That’s exactly what you want from a central striker.

In our time, we played with two strikers and worked off each other. It’s incredibly difficult to play up front alone. Didier Drogba was probably the best at that role, and Samuel Eto'o could do it too. It’s tough to score when you are the only forward. I would find it really hard myself.

What you need to do is have other players around him. Bruno Fernandes joins in, Bryan Mbeumo contributes, Kunya gets involved.

But if Sesko isn’t playing, there’s no real focal point in the attack. So I’d like to see him in the starting lineup. I think that would give Manchester United a great chance to score.
