Former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is close to continuing his career at Santos, where he could reunite with his friend and former national teammate Neymar.
According to journalist Lucas Musetti Perazzoli, Coutinho is set to undergo a medical at Santos on Friday, September 11. Following that, both parties should be able to complete the transfer.
Coutinho has been without a club since February, after leaving Vasco da Gama. During his time with the Brazilian side, he made 37 appearances and scored 9 goals.
A move to Santos would allow Coutinho to share the field with Neymar once again. The duo are well acquainted from their time with the Brazil national team and maintain a close friendship.
Currently, after 25 matches in the Brazilian Championship, Santos sit in 13th place. The team has recorded eight wins, drawn eight times, and suffered nine defeats, amassing a total of 32 points.
