An analysis of Eddie Howe's tenure at Newcastle after spending £687 million and rumblings of a potential move to Manchester United.
Newcastle United have given Eddie Howe a staggering financial boost, splashing out a total of £687 million on transfers over the past five seasons.
However, the results on the pitch have raised eyebrows:
- 2021/22: 11th place
- 2022/23: 4th place
- 2023/24: 7th place
- 2024/25: 5th place
- 2025/26: 12th place
In the 2025/26 season alone, Newcastle forked out £238 million on new signings but finished a disappointing 12th. This begs the crucial question: is Eddie Howe really the man Manchester United require to lead them forward?
