Pierre Sage has issued an apology to fans of Lens after his summer switch to Crystal Palace left many feeling disheartened. The 47-year-old manager recognised that his communications could have been handled more effectively.
In an interview with Ligue 1+, Sage reflected on his press interactions after Lens' triumph in the French Cup. He admitted he wasn't prepared for questions regarding his future.
I should have thought more carefully about my responses during those interviews with the three media outlets.
Ultimately, I was bombarded with questions on topics I wasn't ready for, including the fact that at that point, I was already on my way out of the club.
This summer, Sage departed Lens after an impressive second-place finish in Ligue 1 and a historic cup win. He moved to Crystal Palace to pursue his ambition of managing in the Premier League.
