Omari Hutchinson is gradually settling into life at Milan following his summer transfer from Nottingham Forest. In a Europa League match against Salzburg, the Englishman played the full 90 minutes and helped his team win 4-0. Ruben Amorim is deploying him in a new position.

Omari Hutchinson is beginning to live up to expectations following his summer transfer from Nottingham Forest to Milan. The 22-year-old Englishman made a significant impact in the Europa League match against Salzburg (4-0) and is gradually earning Ruben Amorim's trust.

This summer, Hutchinson made the move to Italy on loan after the unexpected departure of Rafael Leao to Turkey. He faced a tough challenge of stepping into the shoes of one of Milan's key attacking players.

His first months in Italy were challenging, with Hutchinson struggling for minutes in Serie A as he adjusted to the demands of his new manager.

However, his performance against Salzburg indicated that his adaptation is starting to pay off.

Hutchinson impresses in Europa League

The Englishman was named in the starting lineup and was one of the standout players on the pitch. Milan secured a convincing 4-0 victory, with Cisse scoring a hat-trick.

After the match, Hutchinson expressed his satisfaction with his performance.

In an interview with Sky Sport, he stated:

We were desperate for the win, wanting to win the ball and score. For me, this is another step forward.

I'm really pleased with my game and just want to keep going in the same vein, maintaining this level.

Significantly, it was Hutchinson's first time playing the full 90 minutes in a while.

He told Milan TV:

I was really eager to play. It’s been a long time since I’ve played a full match.

Today, I absolutely loved it. I think a lot of the lads did too. I want to carry on in the same manner and maintain this form.

Ruben Amorim finds him a new position

Interestingly, Hutchinson is adapting to a new role as a wing-back at Milan.

Previously, he played closer to the attack, but Amorim has decided to deploy him on the flank with added defensive responsibilities.

The player sees no issue with this change.

Hutchinson explained:

It all depends on the match. Sometimes you get the ball often in the centre, and other times wide on the flank.

I really enjoy playing on the wing, but the most important thing for me is to stay on the pitch, no matter the position.

Amorim is well-acquainted with Hutchinson’s abilities from their previous time in the Premier League, where Hutchinson even scored in Amorim's first match in charge of Manchester United.

Now, the manager is gradually integrating him into the Milan setup, using Europa League matches to help him adapt to the new system.

What this means for Nottingham Forest

While Hutchinson hasn't yet become a regular starter in Italy's top flight, his progress could end up being beneficial for Nottingham Forest.

The English club loaned the player with an option for a future sale.

If Hutchinson continues to perform well, Milan could have further incentive to activate that option.

Although Amorim is not rushing to make Hutchinson a key player, his display against Salzburg suggests that the coach's gamble on the new position may pay off.

For Hutchinson, this represents a golden opportunity to establish himself at one of Europe's biggest clubs, while for Nottingham Forest, it could lead to a lucrative transfer deal.
