Manchester City claimed a convincing victory over Crystal Palace in the second round of the Premier League. Enzo Maresca's team triumphed at Selhurst Park with a 4-1 scoreline, moving to the summit of the league table.
The scoring was opened by Erling Haaland, who headed home following a precise delivery from Antoine Semenyo. This marked Haaland's ninth goal in matches against Crystal Palace since joining City in 2022.
After the break, the visitors doubled their lead when Ryan Cherki finished a superb move with a shot into the bottom corner, notching his first goal of the season.
Crystal Palace sparked back into life through Yeremi Pino, who scored a stunning free-kick from around 28 yards. The ball crashed off the crossbar, hit Gianluigi Donnarumma's back, ricocheted off the post, and ultimately found the back of the net.
However, Cherki quickly restored City's two-goal advantage. The Frenchman received the ball, surged towards goal, and unleashed a powerful strike from around 20 yards to complete his brace.
Haaland capped the match with a close-range finish just before the final whistle, sealing the win at 4-1.
The match also marked the debut for Ayoub Bouaddi, the 19-year-old midfielder who joined from Lille earlier this week.
