The 26-year-old began training on Friday at Atletico’s Cerro del Espino base after a three-day absence due to illness, working individually with a fitness coach.
The situation surrounding the Argentine has reached a boiling point. Atletico president Miguel Angel Gil Marin has firmly blocked any negotiations with Barcelona. Should Alvarez leave the Madrid club, the Premier League remains the only realistic destination. Previously, Arsenal were seen as the frontrunners for the forward, but now Manchester City have thrown their hat into the ring.
