Experienced English forward Danny Welbeck has shared his emotions following his move to Chelsea, admitting that he has dreamed of being part of the London giant since his youth.
The striker recalled the era when the club was under the ownership of Roman Abramovich, noting the indomitable spirit and strength of that team, which commanded respect from every opponent in the Premier League:
I’ve always dreamed of playing for Roman Abramovich’s team, which every single Premier League club feared. Every time the teams I played for faced Chelsea, the atmosphere in the dressing room was off the charts. Beating the London club on the pitch was always seen as a massive honour and a real event.
I didn’t join Chelsea just to wind down my career. My main goal is to help revive the greatness of a team that needs to consistently compete for Premier League titles and win trophies in the Champions League.
