Liverpool have faced disappointment in their quest to land both Ibrahim Mbaye and Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Merseyside outfit, under the guidance of manager Andoni Iraola, has been actively searching for reinforcements to bolster their attacking line. Among their key targets, Bradley Barcola stood out as a priority.
Renowned journalist Abdella Boulma provided insight into the collapsed deal, revealing that PSG's hierarchy firmly rejected the notion of negotiating a dual transfer.
“As expected, Ibrahim Mbaye is set to leave PSG. Having been a top target for Aston Villa for several months, the young Parisian is very close to joining the Villans, as highlighted by David Ornstein. The deal, estimated to be worth around €55 million, is nearly finalised. Liverpool, Chelsea, and Bayer Leverkusen all expressed interest in the player. The Reds, in particular, were exploring a combined deal with Bradley Barcola, but PSG dismissed this approach, insisting on negotiating each transfer separately,” Boulma stated.
This decision has left Liverpool unable to execute their ambitious plan.
As it stands, Aston Villa finds themselves as the main and almost sole contender for Mbaye's services, with the English club keen to secure a new forward ahead of the transfer window closing.
