Chelsea midfielder Moises Kaisedo has spoken out about the surprise departure of his close friend Enzo Fernandes to Manchester City.
The Ecuadorian admitted he was taken aback by the sudden turn of events:
“When I saw the news that Enzo was leaving Chelsea, my immediate reaction was to genuinely laugh and say, ‘Wow.’ Football can change in a matter of hours. One day you’re sharing a dressing room, dreaming of the same things, and the next your friend is off somewhere else.”
“I’m genuinely happy for him. If this decision makes him happy and helps his career, I’ll always support him. But personally, I was surprised. I thought we were close enough for him to tell me in advance, even if it was just a little hint.”
“He had spoken before about possibilities, including Real Madrid, and that didn’t happen. Then suddenly this opportunity with Manchester City arose, and everything moved so fast.”
“I won’t hold anything against him. I would never let a transfer become more important than our friendship. He is one of the closest people to me, and that means more to me than football.”
“I’ve already congratulated him. Of course, I’m going to miss having him around at Chelsea, but friendship doesn’t disappear just because football takes two people in different directions.”
