Frank Lampard addressed Coventry City's 0-1 defeat to Fulham, admitting the team lacked goal-scoring opportunities, praising Oscar Bobb's skill, and expressing hope that defender Bobby Thomas's injury is minor.

Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has shared his thoughts following the 0-1 home defeat to Fulham, with Oscar Bobb scoring the only goal of the match in the 80th minute.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Lampard acknowledged that his team failed to create enough dangerous chances to realistically aim for victory.

"I’m disappointed with the defeat. I can’t stand here and say we deserved to win; the game was pretty even, with not many dangerous moments from either side.

We aimed to secure at least one point, knowing how tough these matches can be. The opponent didn’t really threaten us too often, but we didn’t create sufficient chances to give ourselves a shot at victory. It’s just painful to lose.

Credit to the opponent: they needed a moment of high individual skill to score. But I’m disappointed with the result," Lampard stated.

Lampard praises Fulham's winning goal

The Coventry boss specifically praised the quality of Oscar Bobb's strike, which proved to be the winning goal.

"When good players get one-on-one with a defender in the box, they can shift, find a bit of space and score. I’m disappointed, but it was a moment of high skill," the manager explained.

Bobby Thomas injury concern

Lampard also addressed the injury concerns surrounding defender Bobby Thomas, who picked up a knock during the match. According to the manager, the severity of the injury is still unclear.

"We’re hoping it’s nothing serious. I’m not certain about the extent of the injury yet. He kept playing through the discomfort, but fingers crossed that it's just a minor issue," Lampard shared.

'We need to show resilience'

Lampard admitted that the season ahead will be challenging and urged his players not to dwell on their misfortunes.

"This season is going to be tough. We need to be strong and maintain resilience during these times. It's been a difficult week, but we must keep pushing forward," the manager emphasised.
