Emmanuel Petit has urged Arsenal to weigh up a move for Victor Osimhen if they can't land Julian Alvarez, whom the former midfielder believes would be a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta's side.
The Gunners are in search of another striker as the transfer window draws to a close. Alvarez has emerged as one of their top targets, although the Atletico forward has previously expressed a desire to continue his career at Barcelona.
Peti has lavished praise on Alvarez:
He is a wonderful player with excellent movement and game intelligence. He possesses pace, technique, and vision. He can score plenty of goals and provide assists. I really like his movement.
The Frenchman believes Alvarez's style aligns perfectly with Arsenal's gameplay:
It's sometimes very difficult to find clever players who understand the DNA of the team. Arsenal has a clear playing style, so the stars they sign must fit that. I think Alvarez would be ideal for Arsenal due to how he moves, interacts with teammates, and finishes attacks.
However, should negotiations for Alvarez fall through, Petit has another option in mind: Victor Osimhen.
Peti remarked:
Osimhen is a completely different player, and in terms of his qualities, he contrasts with Alvarez. Victor would add a different kind of power to the attack. He's quick, a real fighter, and has a strong character. He would bring something else to the team. These are two different options, but I like both.
Despite potential new signings, Petit does not think bringing in a new striker should mean the departure of Viktor Djerkesh, who scored 21 goals across all competitions in his debut season after moving from Sporting.
Peti added:
Djerkesh always gives his all on the pitch. He might not be the best striker in the world, but he brings something very important to Arsenal. I'm impressed by the volume of his work up front and the number of runs he makes during a match, even without the ball.

I would look for another striker but keep Djerkesh. To me, Djerkesh is not the issue. The issue is Gabriel Jesus.
