Former Arsenal legend David Seaman has given his insights into the best goalkeepers of today, confidently asserting that Gianluigi Donnarumma of Manchester City will become the world’s best in the next five years.
I think of Donnarumma because he's only 27. It's just incredible considering he’s been performing at the highest level for what feels like forever. He completely dominates his penalty area, said Seaman.
However, the ex-keeper urged pundits and fans alike not to overlook Arsenal’s David Raya, even though he isn’t currently Spain’s undisputed number one. Seaman confessed he didn’t understand why Unai Simon is rated higher, attributing it purely to “coaching preferences.”
In addition to discussing the goalkeeping position, Seaman touched on the promising youth at Arsenal, citing 16-year-old midfielder Max Douman as a player who could earn a call-up to the England national team for Euro 2028.
When you watch him on the pitch, he looks like a grown man, noted Seaman, praising manager Mikel Arteta for the careful management of the young talent’s playing time.
