Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya believes that last season's Premier League title win has provided the team with an invaluable boost in confidence. Speaking after their hard-fought 2-1 win against Chelsea, the Spaniard expressed the relief that accompanies such an achievement.
For the first time in 22 years, Arsenal claimed the Premier League trophy in the 2025/26 season. After three consecutive second-place finishes, Mikel Arteta's side finally triumphed in their championship pursuit.
Raya stated that this success not only brought joy but also a sense of relief, allowing the players to feel more liberated and confident on the pitch.
“Winning the league after so many years, especially when you’ve been so close, gives you relief and added confidence,” Raya remarked.
The goalkeeper also highlighted the importance of their victory over Manchester City in the Community Shield, asserting that their solid performance against the reigning champions has further fuelled the team’s motivation ahead of the new season.
“We know how good we are. We know we can beat any team in this league,” declared Raya.
Arsenal has started their title defence in spectacular fashion, winning all three of their opening Premier League matches, including the morale-boosting win over Chelsea at the Emirates.
