Chelsea has officially confirmed the signing of 33-year-old Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano 'Dibu' Martinez from Aston Villa for a fee of £7.5 million. The contract spans 2+1 years, running until the summer of 2028 with an option to extend through 2029.
The World Cup champion and award-winning goalkeeper expressed his delight at joining the Blues:
'Moving to Chelsea was an easy decision for me and my family, and I'm absolutely over the moon — I can't wait to get started.'
'I want to achieve success here. I'm someone who wants to win in everything I do, and I want to bring that to the club, as this football club wins trophies, so I think we will match perfectly.'
'I give my all with passion and play from the heart. I will give 100 percent in every game, at every training session, so that the club, my teammates, and the fans can be proud.'
