Allan has opened up about his emotions following his transfer to Manchester City from Palmeiras. The 22-year-old Brazilian winger described the move as one of the biggest moments of his life and expressed his admiration for the English club.
Speaking to the official Manchester City website, Allan said:
This is an unreal moment for me. Considering everything that Manchester City has achieved over the last 15 years, it is one of the most attractive clubs in the world for players. Sitting here today and saying that I am now a part of it is the proudest moment of my life.
The winger admitted that leaving his home club was a straightforward decision:
I love Palmeiras and will always love them, but moving to Man City was an easy choice. I want to become the best footballer I can be. The conversations I’ve already had with people at City convinced me that there is no better place for me to achieve my ambitions.
Allan also revealed that he has been following City’s matches closely even before his transfer:
We watched the team a lot in Brazil due to the beautiful football they play. Back when Pep Guardiola was in charge, they played that famous tiki-taka, so I watched many of their matches and really enjoyed their style of play.
He added:
I’ve followed the Premier League closely, often tuning in to City’s games. There are hardly any poor matches in the Premier League.
Allan specifically highlighted the successful experiences of Brazilian players in England:
