Alan Shearer has given his predictions for the ten matches in the upcoming Premier League round. The former England striker expects defeats for Manchester United and Liverpool, doubts Chelsea's ability to win against Everton, but backs Arsenal and Manchester City to be successful.

Alan Shearer has shared his predictions for the upcoming round of matches in the English Premier League. The former England forward believes Manchester United and Liverpool will remain in troubled waters, and Chelsea are likely to end up dropping points away at Everton.

In an interview with Metro, the legendary striker broke down all ten fixtures of the matchday, particularly expressing concern for Michael Carrick's side, who face a tough trip to Leeds.

Everton vs Chelsea: Draw

Chelsea approach this clash riding high after their emphatic 5-1 victory over Bournemouth. However, Shearer has his doubts about whether Xabi Alonso's men can secure all three points.

The expert praised Chelsea's attacking trio of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, and Joao Pedro for their vibrant performances but pointed to defensive frailties as a potential downfall.

Shearer stated:

Palmer, Rogers, and Joao Pedro are fantastic. They offer different options in attack, move well, and handle the ball superbly.

But Chelsea's defence doesn't convince me. I believe Everton will score as well, so I expect a high-scoring draw.

Prediction: Draw.

Brentford vs Liverpool: Brentford Win

Shearer anticipates another disappointing outing for Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool.

The Reds recently suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City and now have to juggle their Premier League commitments with a hectic Champions League schedule.

Shearer explained:

I'm really impressed with how Keith Andrews has set up Brentford. They showed great character coming back against Aston Villa.

Liverpool have injuries and their focus is split between Europe and the league. They’re heading to London, and then back to Champions League action on Tuesday. I think Brentford will win and turn up the pressure on Iraola.

Prediction: Brentford Win.

Fulham vs Hull: Draw

Fulham, under Alvaro Arbeloa, are desperate for their first win of the season.

In their last outing, the Cottagers led against Ipswich but could not hold onto their advantage.

Shearer believes the hosts might yet drop points despite their urgent need to set things right.

Prediction: Draw.

Manchester City vs Ipswich: Manchester City Win

Despite a recent 4-2 defeat to PSG in the Champions League, Shearer remains confident in Enzo Maresca's side.

The expert highlighted City's commanding performance against Liverpool and expects them to handle Ipswich with ease.

Shearer stated:

In the second half against PSG, they looked significantly better. I fully expect City to take all three points.

Erling Haaland will surely want to add to his goal tally. I think all fantasy football fans will make him their captain.

Prediction: Manchester City Win.

Newcastle vs Aston Villa: Newcastle Win

Both teams have been inconsistent, but Shearer favours the hosts.

Aston Villa faced Champions League action earlier in the week and have another European fixture on the horizon.

Shearer notably highlighted Nicolas Jackson, who scored twice in the last Euro match for the Birmingham side.

Nonetheless, he believes Newcastle will capitalise on the visitors’ fatigue.

Prediction: Newcastle Win.

Bournemouth vs Sunderland: Bournemouth Win

Following their heavy defeat by Chelsea, Bournemouth need to redeem themselves.

Shearer acknowledges the absence of injured Alex Scott is a significant blow for Bournemouth, yet Sunderland face their own challenges.

The expert argues that without Brian Brobbey, the visitors look considerably weaker.

Prediction: Bournemouth Win.

Brighton vs Crystal Palace: Brighton Win

Shearer believes Brighton will continue their successful run.

The expert noted that Crystal Palace were quite fortunate in the last round, as Nottingham Forest failed to convert several excellent chances.

Brighton, on the other hand, made a strong impression against Sunderland.

Prediction: Brighton Win.

Leeds vs Manchester United: Leeds Win

Shearer reserved his most troubling prediction for Manchester United fans.

After a disheartening week, Carrick's side travel to Elland Road to face their bitter rivals.

Shearer stated:

There will be an incredible atmosphere at Elland Road. Manchester United are really struggling, and Leeds will make life even tougher for them.

I have absolutely no faith in United. I think Leeds will win.

However, he doesn’t believe the players have turned their backs on Carrick.

Shearer added:

I think the players still back Michael Carrick. Their reaction in Madrid and comments from Lisandro Martinez confirm that.

But they desperately need results. If Leeds win, the pressure on Carrick will be immense. Unfortunately for Michael, that’s the outcome I expect.

Prediction: Leeds Win.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal: Arsenal Win

Nottingham Forest are enduring a tough spell under Oliver Glasner.

In their last match, they created several good chances against Crystal Palace but could not capitalise.

Shearer believes the hosts need a victory badly, but coming up against the reigning champions will prove to be too much.

Prediction: Arsenal Win.

Tottenham vs Coventry: Tottenham Win

Shearer warned that another defeat could draw Tottenham into a relegation battle.

That said, he was impressed with the attitude of Roberto De Zerbi’s side in the last match and expects the Londoners to finally secure a vital victory.

Prediction: Tottenham Win.

In summary, Shearer anticipates wins for Arsenal and Manchester City but has doubts about Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

The consequences of another defeat could be particularly significant for Carrick, whose position at Old Trafford is becoming increasingly precarious.
