Nottingham Forest are in active discussions to acquire 19-year-old English central midfielder Harrison Armstrong from Everton. This is according to the reliable insider David Ornstein from The Athletic.
The parties are negotiating a deal valued at around £40 million, which would include a sell-on clause for any future transfer of the player.
The young midfielder has made 22 appearances for Everton's first team and had loan spells at Derby County and Preston North End, consistently garnering attention from David Moyes since his return.
Forest are keen to strengthen their midfield following the record sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for £116 million ($153 million). Despite the free signing of Austrian player Xaver Schlager from RB Leipzig, the club is determined to bring in another young and dynamic midfielder before the transfer window closes.
