The start of the 2026/27 Premier League season has caught attention not just for the arrival of new footballers on the pitch but for changes in the media lives off the field as well. Daily Star has compiled a selection of the most notable wives and partners of players who have moved to England this summer alongside their partners.
Leading the list is Abigail Oliver, the wife of Liverpool's new defender Ronald Araujo. The 27-year-old Uruguayan joined the Merseyside club on a year-long loan from Barcelona this August. During his time with the Catalan side, Araujo made 213 appearances, netting 14 goals and winning three La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and three Spanish Super Cups. Before the official confirmation of the transfer, Oliver shared an emotional message on Instagram:
“Anywhere, as long as we’re together. A new beginning, always hand in hand with him.”
The British press has also taken note of Melissa Cardona, wife of Paraguayan midfielder Julio Enciso. The 22-year-old has returned to English football, signing a permanent five-year contract with Ipswich Town. Previously, Enciso spent the second half of the 2024/25 season at Portman Road on loan from Brighton, where he scored two goals in 13 matches, including a stunning strike against Everton at Goodison Park.
Completing the trio is Deborah, the spouse of Sunderland’s high-profile new signing Thomas Meunier. The 34-year-old Belgian defender brings a wealth of international experience, having played for PSG, Borussia Dortmund, and the Belgian national team in various major tournaments.
