Manchester United's head coach Michael Carrick has called on his side to elevate their game for the upcoming clash with Bournemouth, labelling their midweek display as 'extremely disappointing'.
This Saturday, the Red Devils return to Premier League action at Old Trafford. In the matchday programme United Review, Carrick addressed the fans and acknowledged their frustrations, stressing the players' responsibility to uphold the club's standards:
"Manchester United is a truly great football club. Our standards and values have been shaped by generations and mean a great deal to me. As a group, we must represent you in line with these principles. The performance on Wednesday was extremely disappointing in many ways. As we return to the Premier League to face Bournemouth, we must show what we are made of."
While Carrick encouraged unity among the players and fans, he made it clear that the squad must improve their on-pitch efforts:
"We all need to stick together, but we know we have to play better for you, our incredible supporters, and our special football club. We understand that despite the general disappointment, you will once again come to Old Trafford to support the team. Now, as a collective, we need to deliver the performance your support deserves."
