The head coach of Newcastle United, Matthias Jaissle, has analysed his side's 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Newcastle struggled in the first half and found themselves trailing 2-1 at the break, but they salvaged a point thanks to Jacob Ramsey's equaliser in the 88th minute.
🗣️ Jaissle: 'I have mixed feelings'
Post-match, Jaissle admitted to feeling conflicted after the final whistle.
'I have mixed feelings. But after such a start, you have to be satisfied. If we had managed to maintain our intensity for the full 90 minutes, we could have taken all three points.'
Jaissle highlighted the team's difficulties in the first half.
'We couldn't match Bournemouth's intensity in the first half and conceded two goals. That was avoidable.'
However, he was pleased with the reaction from his players after the interval.
'I'm proud of the team for their response.'
🔄 'We almost turned the game around'
Newcastle managed to avoid defeat thanks to Ramsey's late strike.
Jaissle believes the response from his team was a crucial moment in the match.
'We wanted to win. We need to ensure we pick up all three points next time.'
The coach also reminded everyone that he had warned about the season's ups and downs.
'I've said from day one: there will be highs and lows. Today, we experienced both within a single match.'
After the final whistle, the players took time to thank the fans.
'They saw the team was trying and believed in themselves. We nearly completed the comeback, but at least we got a point.'
Jaissle expressed his delight at the crowd's reaction:
'I saw so many happy faces in the stands.'
🆕 Jaissle on debutant Fernandez-Pardo
He also spoke about newcomer Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who made his debut after joining Newcastle.
'Expect a lot of quality from him. That’s why we signed him.'
Jaissle stressed that the club won't rush the development of the young player.
'He is still young, but he has immense potential. We need to manage his workload correctly.'
The coach noted that Fernandez-Pardo hasn't played a full match in a while.
'He hasn't played 90 minutes in a long time. The whole club and fans will enjoy what he can bring to us in the future.'
