Joe Cole believes Martin Odegaard is back to the level that made him a key player for Arsenal. The former Chelsea winger and England international specifically praised the Norwegian's impact on the team's play.
Despite Arsenal's championship victory last season, Cole thinks Odegaard likely felt he hadn't fully satisfied his own standards.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Cole said:
Martin Odegaard was outstanding against Napoli all night. He has returned to his highest level.
He probably understands that even though they won the league last season, personally, it wasn't his best year.
Now he looks like the player we admired 18 months ago. He was magnificent.
Cole also named Arsenal as one of the tournament's main contenders, emphasizing the captain's role in orchestrating the team's attacks:
Arsenal are definitely among the favourites in this tournament. Everything the team does goes through Martin Odegaard.
He can literally stand still and still find space. Right now, he is at the peak of his powers, and watching him is a real pleasure.
You cannot help but enjoy his football.
