Former Chelsea footballer Fabio Paim is at the centre of a criminal investigation in Portugal. According to media reports, the 38-year-old Portuguese has been charged with raping a student.
The accusation claims that Paim broke into the young woman’s apartment and carried out the attack. The circumstances surrounding the incident are set to be examined in court. Paim himself denies the allegations, maintaining his innocence.
Chelsea career
Paim joined Chelsea on loan from Lisbon's Sporting in 2008. At that time, the London club was managed by Luiz Felipe Scolari, but the Portuguese was unable to establish himself in the first team.
Until a court decision is made, the accusations remain unproven claims, and Paim is considered innocent under the presumption of innocence.
