Despite a lull in public statements, Liverpool's Everton are hard at work behind the scenes as the transfer window draws to a close. BBC Sport's chief football reporter Phil McNulty has revealed that the club is aiming to secure three incoming deals prior to the deadline.
The medical team at Everton is currently busy finalising key signings:
- Folarin Balogun — The 25-year-old US international is set to join from Monaco for a fee of £40 million, addressing the shortage in their attacking line.
- Jack Grealish — The English winger is making a return to Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
- Ainsley Maitland-Niles — The versatile full-back will join from Lyon for around £3 million, resolving a long-standing issue on the right-hand side of defence.
Everton's hierarchy is confident that all three transfers will be completed smoothly and considers them a formality.
However, negotiations for the return of Brazilian forward Richarlison from Tottenham Hotspur have ultimately stalled. There was previously talk of a £25 million deal alongside Iliman Ndiaye's switch to North London for £60 million. That plan fell through, with the Senegalese striker now set to move directly to Manchester City for £65 million.
