Emmanuel Petit believes Julian Alvarez is precisely the striker Arsenal needs. The Frenchman is confident the forward would perfectly suit Mikel Arteta's team, yet doubts Atletico will let go of the Argentine in the winter.

Emmanuel Petit believes Julian Alvarez is the perfect candidate for Arsenal's central striker role. The former midfielder asserts that the Argentine's style aligns seamlessly with Mikel Arteta's philosophy.

Arsenal showed interest in Alvarez towards the end of the summer transfer window, yet they never made an official offer to Atletico.

Peti stated:

Julian Alvarez is the striker Arsenal needs. Why? Because he knows the Premier League. He’s incredibly talented, with excellent movement and superb technique. His ability to play quick passes would fit perfectly into the DNA of this Arsenal team. I genuinely like everything about him as a player.

However, Petit has his doubts about whether a move could materialise in January:

It's clear he wants to go to Barcelona. If he didn't leave Atletico in the summer, do you really think he will depart during the winter transfer window? I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Peti also commented on Viktor Dijkeresh, who has seen little playing time at the start of the season. The Swede has managed to get on the pitch just once in the first three Premier League matches — coming off the bench in the win against Chelsea:

Arsenal must hope that Kai Havertz doesn’t get injured. But for Viktor Dijkeresh, it’s not over yet, because he’s a fighter. He has his strengths.

We know Arsenal wanted to bring in another forward in the summer, and Havertz won't play every game.

Dijkeresh will have opportunities to prove his worth and stay at Arsenal.
