Chelsea have lost forward Joao Pedro to a thigh injury for several weeks. Xabi Alonso confirmed the absence ahead of the match against Liverpool.

Chelsea will have to cope without Joao Pedro for several weeks after the forward sustained a thigh injury. Manager Xabi Alonso shared this news with reporters ahead of their cup tie against Liverpool on Wednesday.

“He has a thigh injury, and he’ll be out for several weeks,” Alonso stated, adding that the club won't rush to provide a timeline for his recovery.

In addition to Joao Pedro, Chelsea will also miss Emiliano Martinez, Reece James, and Jamie Gittens for the upcoming match, while Cole Palmer is serving a suspension.

However, Emmanuel Emeka has returned to fitness after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained back in July. Alonso praised the 23-year-old's pace and physical attributes, indicating that strong attacking options are crucial for the club as they prepare to face Liverpool.
