Chelsea have clarified their immediate intentions regarding Kendry Paez after his loan at River Plate was cut short.

According to reports from The Athletic, the London club is set on integrating the 19-year-old Ecuadorian into their setup and focusing on enhancing his standards.

Paez's loan deal at River Plate, which was meant to run until the end of 2026, ended prematurely. During his time with the Argentine outfit, the midfielder made 14 appearances, racking up just 461 minutes on the pitch.

Before the transfer window slammed shut, Chelsea were actively searching for a new home for Paez, targeting clubs in both the Premier League and Championship. However, they were unable to find a suitable option.

Now, Paez will remain within Chelsea's ranks. The Athletic reveals that the club plans to work closely with the young talent to help him elevate his demands of himself following two challenging loan spells.
