Brentford have officially confirmed they are working with the police following a dangerous incident that occurred during their Premier League clash against Liverpool. A rugby ball was dropped onto the pitch from a considerable height during the game.

Social media quickly saw footage emerge of a man standing on the roof, who, amid the shouts and laughter of those nearby, kicked a rugby ball towards the Brentford Community Stadium. Other clips, filmed from inside the ground, show a club employee promptly removing the ball from the playing area while the match continued.

The match ultimately ended in a 2-1 defeat for the hosts. However, post-match discussions quickly shifted towards safety concerns. In an official statement, Brentford condemned the actions of the hooligans:

This kind of behaviour is dangerous and potentially very harmful.

The matter has been handed over to the police, and the club is assisting the authorities in their investigation to help identify those responsible and take appropriate actions that may lead to prosecution.

The safety of fans, staff, players, and officials on match days is paramount, and the club will support all efforts to ensure measures are taken.
