After a resounding 3-0 victory over Manchester United, Bournemouth winger Ben Gannon-Doak took the opportunity to mock their opponents as players made their way through the tunnel at Old Trafford. In a viral video moment, the young star quipped:
'We're sending them to Chelsea.'
The 20-second clip shows the smiling Bournemouth players, donned in their beige away kits, casually chatting after their confident win. Goals from Ryan and Marcus Tavernier in the first half, alongside a late strike from Evanilson, sealed the deal for the Cherries. Gannon-Doak himself came off the bench in the 62nd minute.
Such banter doesn't come from nowhere. Earlier in October, Bournemouth suffered a heavy defeat to Chelsea (1-5), but bounced back with wins against Sunderland and AC Milan (3-0) in the Europa League before this crushing of the struggling Manchester United.
For Michael Carrick's men, this latest defeat represents yet another severe blow. Currently sitting 16th in the Premier League, they have managed just one win in their opening eight fixtures. Amid tensions with the coaching staff, Bruno Fernandes remained on the bench, but that did little to rescue the Red Devils from this latest debacle. Their next match is, ironically, against Chelsea, a clash that could prove pivotal for Carrick's future at the club.
