Former Arsenal defender Bakari Sagna believes Bradley Barcola should reconsider joining Liverpool from PSG this summer. The Frenchman has expressed skepticism about whether now is the right time for his compatriot to take such a career leap.
Liverpool is reportedly close to finalising a deal for Barcola, with the overall fee, including bonuses, potentially reaching £120 million. Recent reports suggest the French winger is set to undergo a medical, with only minor details left to be agreed upon.
In commenting on the situation, Bakari Sagna said:
“Last season, Liverpool didn't perform at their best, and there were various reasons for that. I don't think moving there now would be the right decision for Bradley Barcola, especially after everything he’s achieved at PSG.”
Sagna further added:
“Liverpool is one of the biggest and most respected clubs in England. Playing for them is something special. However, the team currently looks a bit unhealthy and is still recovering from last season.”
“They will get back to their best, but I’m not sure that moving now is the optimal choice for Barcola.”
With Mohamed Salah's departure looming, Liverpool sees the 23-year-old Frenchman as a vital addition to reinforce their attacking line. During his spell at PSG, Barcola has won three French championships and lifted the Champions League trophy twice.
