15-Second Brief
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso revealed that Cole Palmer acknowledged his mistake after being sent off against Tottenham and will miss the game against Liverpool.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has spoken candidly about midfielder Cole Palmer, who was shown a red card during the team's recent clash with Tottenham Hotspur, which ended in a 0-2 defeat.

The Spanish coach believes that Palmer fully grasps the gravity of his mistake, although he insists that the uproar surrounding the incident shouldn't have a lasting negative impact on the young player.

We had a chat, and he certainly understands the error he made, Alonso stated.

These are situations that can be avoided. I hope it won't happen again. He is aware of it; he's a mature lad, but it was a mistake.

Alonso went on to emphasise the positive environment surrounding Palmer in the squad:

He’s doing well; he gets on brilliantly with his teammates. They love him and want to see Cole smiling and enjoying his game because that’s when the team looks stronger. Everyone at the club knows how special he is.

Due to his suspension, Palmer will miss the upcoming cup match against Liverpool on Wednesday night, but he is set to return for the Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Saturday.
