Manchester City, Newcastle, and Aston Villa are showing interest in Atletico Madrid midfielder Alex Baena, who has caught the eye of Premier League giants ahead of the January transfer window.
According to CaughtOffside, the English clubs' interest has significantly risen following Baena's impressive performances for the Spanish national team during the recently concluded 2026 World Cup, where Spain emerged victorious.
However, Atletico have made it clear they have no intention of parting ways with the midfielder. The Madrid club is determined to reject any offers for Baena, mirroring their stance regarding Julian Alvarez.
Baena's contract with Atletico runs until the summer of 2030, placing the club in a robust position with no pressing need to sell the player.
With Premier League clubs splashing out a record £3.49 billion in the summer transfer window—£506.5 million of which was spent on the final day—it's expected that activity will be high on the winter market.
