Manchester United have not given up on their pursuit of 18-year-old midfielder Luis Page from Leicester City. Following an unsuccessful attempt to negotiate a deal last summer, the clubs are continuing talks that could potentially see an agreement reached before the next transfer window opens.
Last summer, United were willing to pay around £8 million, whereas Leicester were holding out for a £12 million upfront fee, with an additional £3 million in bonuses. The disparity in valuations led to the transfer falling through before the deadline.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that negotiations are still ongoing:
According to my information, Manchester United were prepared to sign him either with a pre-agreement or by sending him back on loan to Leicester immediately.
The discussions may well continue in the coming days with an eye towards a pre-agreement. The transfer of Luis Page to Manchester United is not completely off the table.
Even if they come to an agreement after the window closes, it won’t change much. I believe Page will need to spend this season at Leicester regardless.
Thus, if a compromise is reached, Page could become the first pre-agreed signing for Manchester United for the 2027 season.
