Ronald Araujo has informed his agent and family that he wishes to continue his career at Liverpool on a permanent basis after the current season concludes.
The Uruguayan defender made the switch from Barcelona to the Premier League outfit on loan for the remainder of the season. The deal includes a buyout option worth approximately £47 million (€55 million) — the decision to activate it rests solely with Liverpool.
Araujo joined Andoni Iraola's side following Ibrahima Konate's departure to Real Madrid and amid injuries to several defenders.
The player himself has previously remarked that moving to Liverpool was the perfect decision for his career, noting that the choice to head to Anfield was made swiftly after the English club expressed interest.
