Newcastle's Matias Fernandez-Pardo has drawn comparisons to Eden Hazard since the young Belgian's days at home. However, French football journalist Jibril Diop believes the 21-year-old winger still has a long way to go before he matches the level of the former Chelsea star.
Diop shared his thoughts on the rising talent.
Newcastle are getting a very young player - he’s only 21. His main asset is his one-on-one ability and dribbling. He is also quite technical and definitely has the potential to develop into a world-class player that Newcastle expect him to become.
Diop elaborated on the comparison between Fernandez-Pardo and Hazard:
When he was in the academy in Belgium, one of the coaches mentioned him as a sort of Eden Hazard, but without the finishing touch. So comparisons to Hazard have been common. However, I don’t think he will become quite as good. He lacks that special spark that Eden had during his time at Lille.
Fernandez-Pardo made his move to Newcastle from Lille this summer.
